About Us

Our story...

Our story began in the early 1970’s with the formation of Mitchelton Meals on Wheels and Meals on Wheels Western Suburbs Inc..

For close to half a century, these organisations supported clients in their respective communities, before amalgamating in late 2021 to form Meals on Wheels North West Inc..

Over that time, we helped thousands of people in the community, combined delivering over 2 million meals.

In March 2023, we launched Caring Cuisine. This new name was chosen to better reflect who we are, and give us the freedom to provide high quality services that are in line with modern community expectations.

But don’t worry, we’re the same not-for-profit, community organisation that we’ve been since the start. We’re committed to ensuring high quality services to all of Brisbane.

We’re supported by hundreds of volunteers, who provide thousands of hours of support to our clients. We’re huge advocates for keeping the community local and value the idea of ‘locals supporting locals’.

Neighbourly nourishment

Our volunteers aren’t just delivery drivers, they’re a central part of our what we do.

This gives you the comfort of knowing that someone from our local community is checking in. We make sure to keep our delivery runs local, and have volunteers visit the same clients each week where possible to help build genuine connections.

We don’t rush our volunteers, and encourage them to chat.

All volunteers are police checked, and follow our policies and procedures to ensure a high level of care.

Easy and accessable

We’re committed to making our service is easy to access for anyone who needs it.

We’re proud to be able to offer a single point of contact, and a consistent service across the whole of Brisbane.

We have no assessment criteria, lock-in contracts, or “subscriptions” that you cant get out of. Our Caring staff will also provide you with relevant information on government funding programs to ensure you maximise the benefit and receive the lowest price possible.

And rest assured – when you call the office, you’re speaking to one of our Caring staff at one of our two Brisbane locations.

Fresh and excellent

We believe that no one deserves second best.

Our nutritious and delicious meals are cooked daily by qualified chefs to ensure they’re fresh going from our kitchen table to yours.

We’re constantly striving to improve what we do, whether that’s providing more meal choices, more ways to order, or supporting more people.

But we make sure to put our clients at the centre of our thinking – while we might offer online ordering, clients will always be free to return the physical order forms.

How it works

We’re here to make life easier  so you can focus on the more enjoyable things in life. Upon signing up, we provide you with the option to either order online, or receive fortnightly paper menus. These menus can be returned in advance of the fortnight, with their meal selection.

While we ask that you set a recurring meal plan, this can easily be changed by contacting the office – the regular meal plan just helps us to ensure we have sufficient meals and volunteer available on the day.

You’re free to choose any delivery days that suit you, Monday to Friday. Some people choose to receive a meal every day, or every other day, while others choose to receive a weeks worth of food in one delivery. We don’t charge any extra for daily deliveries.

If you think you might not be home for your scheduled delivery, we ask that you contact the office to let us know. We can then arrange to have your meal delivered the next day, or picked up from our office.

You’re free to pause or cancel your meals at any time, without any cancellation fees.

Lend a hand

If you'd like to lend a hand, we'd love to have you.

We’re always in need of more volunteers who can help on a regular basis. Whether it’s weekly, or fortnightly,
